President Barack Obama To Deliver Morehouse College’s Commencement Address on May 19, 2013

Phiadelphia, PA- As Morehouse College prepares for the arrival of President Barack Obama, the campus is abuzz with anticipation.  President Obama will be delivering the commencement address at Morehouse’s graduation on May 19, 2013.

The historical significance of the first African-American President of the United States addressing the leading all-male HBCU (Historically Black College and University) in the nation, with alumni ranging from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. Jeh Johnson, Esquire, and Spike Lee just to name a few, has:

(1)  Never happened before.

(2) Shines a brilliant light on the history, accomplishments and advancement of HBCU’s .

(3) Brings a crystal clear focus on the relevance of HBCU’s in today’s competitive realm of higher education, as it is the key to the future of our global economy.

(4)  Firms President Obama’s commitment to the preservation and advancement of HBCU’s in our nation, as evidenced by his annual Presidential Proclamations in honor of HBCU’s nationwide.  (Please see Presidential Proclamation below)
